Project Engineer appointment strengthens in-house construction delivery

Tierra has strengthened its in‑house construction capability with the appointment of Project Engineer Robert Goss, further advancing the company’s engineering‑led approach to land development. With strong experience delivering both residential subdivisions and large-scale infrastructure projects across the SEQ region Rob brings valuable technical insight, on‑the‑ground capability and strong supply‑chain relationships to Tierra’s growing operations across South East Queensland.

For Rob, the role offers both professional growth and the unique chance to make a meaningful contribution to the communities he knows so well.

“I’ve grown up in and around these areas, so being able to help enhance these neighbourhoods is incredibly rewarding. I’m excited to learn, take on new challenges, and work closely with industry leaders like Karl and James all while placing product quality and resident experience at the heart of how we work,” he said

The value add

General Manager James Kriukelis said Rob brings so much value to Tierra’s delivery philosophy and growth aspirations.

“Not only because he offers the perspective of someone who sits quite squarely in our target market – so he knows what our residents are looking for, but also because of his experience which perfectly aligns with our commitment to consistency, quality and continuous improvement across every site. His established supplier relationships and credibility in the market add real impact at a project level, helping us deliver to the outcomes Tierra is known for.”

James added that engineers like Rob, who understand the full lifecycle of a project, are essential to Tierra’s success and how invaluable Rob’s flexibility and agility will be as Tierra continues to disrupt the traditional urban development industry.

“His calm, approachable style and ability to adapt across varied and multiple roles make him a natural fit for Tierra’s integrated delivery model. Working closely with our site supervisor, he brings a measured, professional presence that strengthens on‑site execution and supports the development of the systems and processes that underpin our approach,” James said.

Building for the future, today

Director Karl Yunker said Rob’s appointment bolsters Tierra’s engineering foundations reinforcing their broader vision guided by innovation and technical excellence.

“Our focus has always been on creating communities that stand the test of time. Bringing in people like Rob ensures we continue to deliver homesites that reflect thoughtful design, strong engineering and long‑term value for residents. Passing on modern, sustainable approaches to urban development is vital for the future of our industry. Supporting young talent and unlocking their potential is something I’m particularly passionate about, so I’m excited to see Rob grow into this opportunity.”

Looking forward, Rob relishes the chance to craft vibrant, inclusive neighbourhoods where individuals and families genuinely aspire to live. Free from the constraints of construction sector margin pressures and lending requirements, he is excited to embed urban design, landscape integration and enduring quality into every project, helping Tierra as they continue to redefine liveability, helping Australians thrive for generations to come.

Tierra: Innovative approach to residential development

Boutique developer Tierra is making significant strides in the residential development industry, leveraging a fresh perspective and decades of technical expertise.

Foundations of Success

Tierra's journey began in 1991 when Director Karl Yunker embarked on his engineering career in civil construction with Leighton Contractors. His transition to Delfin Property Group allowed him to combine his infrastructure background with advanced studies in finance and urban planning. At Delfin, Karl embraced a customer-centric approach to urban communities which profoundly influenced his career trajectory.

Expansion and Diversification

In 1999, Karl ventured into his own developments, merging construction, finance, and development. This path led to the birth of civil contractor Pensar within twelve months. By 2004, as Brisbane experienced economic growth, Pensar shifted its focus to transport infrastructure and later diversified into public utilities. By 2020, the company had fully committed to serving clients in the water and energy sectors. In December 2022, Karl and his wife Louise sold the business, but Karl's vision for Tierra remained steadfast.

Commitment to Quality

Tierra's mission is clear: to unlock the dream of home ownership for more Australians. The company prioritises quality, investing in decisions that deliver superior outcomes for residents. Engaging with stakeholders, Tierra designs homesites that leave a legacy, embedding sustainable urban design, landscape integration, and superior presentation of homesites. The goal is to create desirable environments where individuals and families aspire to live.

Innovative Development Models

Departing from traditional development models, Tierra is seamlessly integrating the construction delivery process within the company. This approach ensures cost efficiencies, careful control of quality, and speed to market. Tierra aims to meet builder and resident expectations, crafting vibrant neighbourhoods in high-growth population corridors.

Engineering Excellence

Tierra's engineering and construction expertise will be evident in efficient construction methodology and timeline delivery. The collective wisdom of the team addresses all facets of construction, geotechnical, essential services, and design risks through the project lifecycle. This reliability offers future homeowners’ certainty of timing for homesite availability. By engaging early with leading consultants in planning, urban design, and development strategy, and executing civil works directly, Tierra reduces delays, maintains greater control, and accelerates the release of lots to market. Through carefully considered acquisition of greenfield land and a network of consultants, Tierra is unlocking more opportunities for Australians to achieve the dream of home ownership, making quality living accessible to a broader community well into the future.
